COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you connect.

Which extension cable should I choose: SM079 or SM073?

SM079 uses an AMP 2-pin interface and supports SercoMoto auxiliary lights and other brands with matching AMP 2-pin connectors. SM073 is exclusively for SercoMoto dimming-series auxiliary lights.

Can I adapt my existing two-wire lights?

Yes. SercoCAN V2 includes 4 connector housings and wiring conversion components for adapting two-wire, single-color auxiliary lights to the SercoCAN interface. The light-side connectors need to be converted; the motorcycle connection uses its own model-specific adapter.

Can I use lights from other brands?

Yes. SercoCAN V2 supports single-color lights from any brand, with up to 600 W combined across all connected lights. This is the total supported lighting power, not a per-connector rating.

How are V1 and V2 materials separated?

The old SercoMoto product page and its embedded videos are V1 references. The manuals, wiring diagrams and handlebar sheet on this site describe V2. Use the instructions for your installed version.

Which installation guide should I use?

For BMW R1300, start with the XDWA guide. The RDC guide covers the listed GS and RT models with a matching adapter. Confirm your exact model, year and connectors before installation.

What if my bike has no alarm or RDC module?

The guides include separate connection paths. Retain the original resistor plug and reconnect it as instructed; a terminating resistor is not an ordinary dust cap.

Which instructions describe V2 flashing?

The V2 control sheet specifies 3 presses of the high-beam flash switch to start alternating flashes and 2 presses to stop. Use the instructions that match your installed controller version.

Are all manuals available as PDFs?

R1300 manuals are available as PDFs in five languages. RDC manuals include English, Spanish, Italian and Chinese PDFs, plus German and French Word documents. File formats are shown in the download library.
